Aunque la Ciccone rezase con que los italianos lo saben hacer mejor, no podrá negar que últimamente el estado que más calidad está aportando al panorama musical es Canadá. Por lo tanto no podemos obviar que se ha dado a conocer la primera lista de nominados al Polaris Prize 2008, que premia el mejor disco canadiense del año. Entre los candidatos destacados se encuentran Black Mountain (In The Future), Constantines (Kensington Heights), Stars (In Our Bedroom After The War), The New Pornographers (Challengers) Crystal Castles (Crystal Castles), o Tegan and Sara (The Con).
La lista de los 10 mejores álbumes se dará a conocer el 7 de julio y posteriormente elegirá el álbum ganador de los 20.000 dólares al mejor disco canadiense de 2007.
